“The person you see here isn’t the person I was yesterday or even the day before. I move constantly through the time stream, jumping to wherever I’m needed.”
Is he a scientist? Is he a wizard? Few people know the truth about Captain Tomorrow, but everyone recognizes him as a hero.
What is Known
Unlike many superheroes, Captain Tomorrow has spent his career avoiding the press and rarely speaks publicly about his powers or motivations. Most of the information about him comes second- or third-hand through allies and acquaintances. He is certainly a time traveler, born at some point in the mid to late 21st century. Despite that, he has been almost everywhere in history, from ancient Egypt to space colonies in the distant future.

Captain Tomorrow’s abilities seem to function in two ways. First, he has the ability to jump through time, but only alone; he has never been able to bring others with him on his temporal journeys. Second, he seems to have limited precognitive abilities. He can see seconds into the future, much to the frustration of his foes. Combat against Captain Tomorrow is a frustrating experience, as he can anticipate any incoming attack and adjust to it in a split-second.
Beyond the basics of his powers, much of Captain Tomorrow’s history and personality remains a mystery, shared only with his closest allies. This has led to many, many theories about what kind of person lies beneath the mask.
What is Unknown
When trying to figure out Captain Tomorrow’s secrets, people often turn to history and myth alike. Could he be Merlin, the legendary wizard who aged backwards? Could he be from the future, possibly the child of a famous figure who lives today? Or could he be something even stranger, such as a Lovecraftian horror from beyond the mortal realm?

Once one gets past the what-ifs, they can narrow down certain facts. Captain Tomorrow doesn’t seem to possess magical abilities, at least not to the extent that Miss Destiny does. He travels time through the use of technology that seems to be keyed to him specifically; he can carry items but not organic matter through time. And he knows a great deal about future events, even though he remains tight-lipped about them.
Evidence suggests that he is from a distant future, hoping to alter the past somehow. But why, and for what purpose, nobody knows.
All they know now is that he is dead.
The Late Captain Tomorrow
Meddling Heroes begins with the deaths of two people: Captain Tomorrow and Roosevelt Pythagoras. But Dr. Pythagoras is also in jail, due in part to the heroics of Captain Tomorrow. If Captain Tomorrow can’t pull Pythagoras through time with him, how did two of them show up? And…is there a second Captain Tomorrow out there?
